Remember a few years ago when Kim Kardashian started her style revolution with Kanye West? There was a time that she was wearing cutoff MOTHER Looker Ankle Frayed Jeans in a light wash everywhere!
After seeing these, I wanted them so badly and looked everywhere for them, but sadly that wash was sold out and regardless, I couldn’t imagine spending over $200.00 on jeans. I ended up finding a different pair of MOTHER Looker Ankle Frayed jeans on Ebay, brand new for a steal ($70) and I have been rocking them ever since (similar style here).
These MOTHER jeans came cutoff at the ankle but were still too long for my petite self. After several washes the fray got even better, but I became fed up with the length and I cut them again… I am still waiting for the massive fraying to come back again!
I am still in love with frayed hem jeans because they look so effortless and cool and thankfully as a trend they are bigger than ever! For Fall 2016 you’d be hard pressed to find a retailer that doesn’t sell frayed hem ankle jeans. If your more of a DIYer, you can also take scissors to a pair of your old jeans and fray the hell out of them (this also works if the jeans are too long) but if your not the DIY kind of guy/gal then I suggest picking any of the jeans featured below!
Get the Look: Where to Buy Frayed Hem Jeans
Vigoss Chelsea Distressed Raw Hem Skinny Jeans $68- I love the hem detail and the distress detail by the knees. It’s also a great deal!
Levi’s Wedgie Jean $88- The Levis Wedgie jeans are on my Fall 2016 wish list; this pair is in another wash and I love that the ankles are cutoff. Throw them in the wash a few times and they are bound to get even better! The best part is if the inseam is too long you can shorten them yourself!
Topshop Step Hem Straight Leg Jeans $80- I love the step hem detail on these Topshop jeans! It’s almost like party in the back, business in the front and I love that they show just enough ankle!
J Brand Carolina Super High Rise Skinny with Step Hem $188- These step hem jeans from J Brand look so flattering in black and though a little bit more pricey, J Brand jeans have excellent quality and I’ve been told their black dye doesn’t fade as fast as other brands.
Zara Mid Rise Ripped Trousers $49- Zara has a plethora of frayed hem jeans on their site. I love the washed gray and distressed details on the legs! These are also a great price!
Zara Mid Rise Jeans $49- Another super affordable pair of jeans from Zara. These are less distressed, which I think makes them more office appropriate. I also love the dark wash and they look so good with ankle booties!
